The education of children in our society has traditionally been built around a sequence of class grade, organized by the age of the children. Now, a new style of teaching is being proposed, which asserts that children will do better when their education is self-paced, geared to the need of each individual child, rather than to the needs of an age-based class. The basic argument is that self-pacing allows children to proceed as quickly as their own aptitudes allow; thus, children with special skills will not be forced to waste time and become bored in classes that are too slow for them. Likewise, children who may need extra time to achieve certain educational goals will not be stugmatized by being “left back” (forced to repeat a grade), simply because they are developing at a slower rate than are the majority children in their age group. In this essay, I will be arguing that the self-paced approach is an brilliant idea, but only for a certain portions of the curriculum.

The new style of teaching is being proposed, which asserts that children will excel better when their education is self-paced. Self-paced education programme is focusing on developing the individual skills whereas the age-based class more in team-work skills.

Self-pacing allows children to proceed as quickly as their own aptitudes allow. thus, children with special skills will not be forced to waste time and become bored in classes that are too slow for them.

on the other hand, children who need extra time to achieve certain educational goals will not feel they are left-behind from the others.

2nd para :

For the subjects of for example English, Maths, and Science, self-pacing  is a useful method. These subjects lend themselves to self-pacing because their content is both rigorous and well-defined, making it relatively easy for educators to create and monitor self-paced programs of education. Indeed, publishers in the education market have already created dozens of such programs, complete with textbooks, workbooks, quizzes, and tests, and even Computer-Assisted Instruction and online resources. There are two more reasons why I recommend these subjects for self-pacing. First of all, these subjects are the ones which we observe the greatest differentials in the progress of different students. Therefore, they have the greatest need for , and derive the greatest benefits from, self-pacing. Second, these subjects are largely solitary pursuits, in which the single student encounters and digests the material. As we shall see in the next paragraph, a significant portion of the curiculum cannot be handled one-on-one in this way.

For the subjects of Health, Physical Education, and Social Studies, self-pacing yields relatively few benefits, and may in fact be less effective than the traditional methods. Health and Physical Education particularly really do require that students be grouped by age, so that their physical skills and development are more or less closely matched in classes. Of course, Physical Education classes always involve activities done with groups rather than individuals, especially the team sports. Subject like Social Study benefit greatly from the shared experiences of the students, who are, after all, learning to function in society together. Indeed, these two subjects would probably benefit from even greater focus on group projects and accomplishments.

3rd :

There are some who may object that self-paced curricula place too great a burden on the teachers, who must track students at many different levels of achievement. While it may be true that teachers will have to be more flexible in their daily interactions with their students, the subjects I am recommending already have available well-organized and easy-to-use materials, which have been developed and refined for several decades now.

4th :

For those who object that self-pacing ignores the need for students develop appropriate social skills, I would reply that this argument applies only to curricula in which every subject is self-paced. Since I am recommending particular focus on age-based group classes for many, even the majority, of subjects, this criticism has no application to my particular argument. Whatever the institutional or logistical barriers to the implementation of self-paced programs might be, and I believe that they are not great, we can all agree that the primary purpose of the school system is to provide the best possible education for each child. In this light, the conclusion we must draw is obvious, where self-pacing makes sense, we not only can, we should make it available.
